Hearts of Gold (Cercis canadensis)  is a striking ornamental tree prized for its brilliant golden foliage and classic spring floral display. In early spring, clusters of small pink to lavender pea-like flowers bloom directly on the branches before the leaves emerge. The heart-shaped foliage that follows emerges in shades of orange to golden-red, then matures into a vivid golden-yellow that holds best in full sun, bringing strong seasonal color to the landscape. In shadier conditions, the foliage tends to shift toward chartreuse or light green. Its graceful, spreading habit and multi-season interest make it an excellent specimen tree for residential landscapes, woodland edges, and focal plantings.
