Shasta Viburnum
- Height: 6 to 8 feet
- Spread: 9 to 12 feet
- Light preference: Full sun to partial shade
The Shasta viburnum (Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum 'Shasta') is a deciduous shrub with dark green leaves that turn reddish-purple in fall, white lacecap flowers in late spring to early summer, and red berries that mature to black. It grows 6-8 feet tall and 10-12 feet wide, thriving in USDA zones 5-8, and prefers full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil. Regular watering, early spring fertilizing, and post-flowering pruning are recommended. It is ideal as a specimen plant, in mixed borders, or as a focal point, attracting birds and pollinators. Mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
